Camera Tickets in Fresno County

California has three kinds of camera ticket, and each is contested a different way. Your notice tells you which one you have: a city notice of violation goes through the city's review process, and a court citation goes to the superior court.

Red light cameras (court or civil)

City notice of violation (SB 720, Vehicle Code 21455.9): a civil penalty handled by the city or county that issued it, not the court. $100 if you had no violation in the past 3 years, then $200, $350 or $500 for repeat violations within 3 years. No DMV points. A new program must issue 60 days of warnings first. To contest, ask for an initial review within 30 days of the notice's mailing date, then an administrative hearing, then an appeal to the superior court.
