When you receive a traffic ticket in California, you typically post a bail deposit equal to the fine amount. This is separate from TicketClear's service fee.

If the judge rules in your favor, your bail deposit is refunded. If the judge rules against you, your bail deposit is applied toward the fine. No additional penalties.

A Trial by Written Declaration carries no additional penalties beyond your existing fine. You do not lose your bail deposit by filing one.

Before generating your declaration, we check your citation against California eligibility requirements. If your ticket is not eligible for a Trial by Written Declaration, we will let you know before you pay.

Certain violations, including DUI, hit-and-run, and reckless driving, are outside the scope of our document generation tools. For these cases, we recommend consulting a licensed traffic attorney.
