What TicketClear handles
TicketClear prepares Trial by Written Declaration documents (California Vehicle Code § 40902) for California traffic infractions. A written declaration is only available for infractions, so some citations are outside what we prepare. This page lists both. It is general information, not legal advice.
Citations we prepare documents for
Officer-issued California Vehicle Code infractions in these categories, when the ticket is not marked as a misdemeanor or as correctable. Camera notices (speed and red-light cameras) follow a separate process with the issuing agency.

Situations we don’t handle, whatever the code
- The ticket is marked “misdemeanor” (or an “M” is circled)
- Someone was injured
- The court has told you to appear in person
- You have an outstanding warrant
- The driver was under 18 (juvenile traffic process)
- The ticket is not from California, or is not a Vehicle Code citation (federal, national park, Penal Code, city ordinance)
- The ticket is marked “correctable” (fix-it)
- A commercial-vehicle citation for a commercial driver’s license (CDL) holder
Codes not listed on this page
If your code isn’t listed, we check it against the official California Vehicle Code: a code that isn’t a Vehicle Code section is not accepted (please check your ticket); a section the Vehicle Code makes a misdemeanor, or whose text provides a jail or felony penalty, is not handled; any other Vehicle Code violation is an infraction (Vehicle Code § 40000.1) and can be prepared as a general infraction.
Where to get information
TicketClear is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. Classifications describe how a section is usually charged; the charge on your ticket controls.
